Shea Butter: Shea Butter is known for its moisturizing and emollient properties. It is often used as a base for medicinal ointments and is often found in many skin care products, such as cosmetics, lotions and soaps. Because of its vitamin rich qualities, Shea Butter is beneficial in treating dry and itchy skin, sunburns, chapped and damaged skin, as well as many other irritated skin conditions. Shea butter also offers a limited amount of UV protection and can be added into sunscreen recipes.
Coconut Oil: Coconut Oil is useful in formulations for dry, itchy, sensitive skin. It will not clog pores, and it absorbs readily into the skin. Coconut Oil is a gift to the soap making industry because of its resistance to rancidity and contribution towards making a hard bar of soap with a wonderfully fluffy lather. Coconut Oil is light and non-greasy.
Tamanu Oil: Tamanu Oil is hydrating, and it also helps regenerate skin cells. Research shows that Tamanu Oil is a strong anti-inflammatory. It is useful for the treatment of rheumatism, eczema and inflammatory skin conditions. The oil has been used for its ability to help heal cuts and wounds while acting as a germicide to prevent infection
Shea butter is the best natural product to protect, heal and improve skin. It is prized for its unique combination of Vitamins and nutrients. Among these, is first a very high content of Essential Fatty Acids more than in all other vegetable butters. These fatty acids are oleic, stearic, linoleic and palmitic acid. If you’re looking to improve the appearance of your skin and hair, then applying pumpkin treatments or adding it to your diet can help. Here’s why:
Vitamin C: Pumpkin is a good source of vitamin C, which helps protect skin from free radical damage, such as wrinkles and even skin cancer. Eating vitamin C rich foods also helps promote collagen production, which over time can improve skin tone and elasticity.
Carotenoids: Alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and other carotenoids are the protective antioxidants that are also responsible for giving pumpkins their bright orange hue. Eating foods that are a good source of carotenoids can help to reverse UV damage and improve skin texture.
Minerals: Potassium, copper, magnesium, manganese, and iron are just a few of the minerals found in pumpkin. Potassium helps promote healthy hair and regrowth. Pumpkins are also rich in copper and zinc, which play a big part in healthy skin and hair. Zinc helps protect cell membranes, maintain collagen, fight acne, and promotes skin renewal. Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc and easy to add into your diet. Try sprinkling them in soups, salads, or adding them to yogurt and oatmeal.
B Vitamins: Pumpkin is a good source of most of the B vitamins, including niacin, riboflavin, B6 and folate. Niacin helps treat acne and improve circulation. Folate also helps to improve circulation, which increases cell turn over and renewal.
